Figure Drawing: Structure & Anatomy
Mondays 6 - 9 pm, March 3 - 24
Art Student’s League of Denver
This course is a great transitional step for students who have taken figure drawing, and are looking to move into longer sessions with the model to understand form. In the course, students will be doing longer poses where they can slow down and investigate form and anatomy. The instructor will demonstrate and lecture on structural concepts to apply to interpreting the organic form of the model via planar and geometric constructions, as well as anatomical ideas and surface morphology.
Long Pose Figure Painting
Fridays 9:30am - 12:30pm, March 7 - 21
Art Student’s League of Denver
Students will learn a well paced, adaptive methodology toward painting the human figure as both an investigation into its form, and as a pictorial idea. With 6 weeks, students will have adequate time to develop their painting towards a formal resolution, the instructor working alongside students and demonstrating each stage of the process, covering the conceptual and the procedural.
Portrait Painting
wednesdays 1-4, March 5 - 19
Art student’s League of Denver
This class explores painting the portrait from life. Students will learn a direct painting method for capturing the light and form of the head as well as a convincing likeness of the model. Using a direct painting approach, students will learn to quickly and accurately establish the gesture, shapes, and structures of the human head. Perspective, as well as basic anatomical landmarks will also be taught to further supplement observation with knowledge to inform mark making and sculptural awareness. Keeping a simple palette, this method will also build upon itself towards longer studies and projects.

Private Lessons
Open availability // in-person & online
Private lessons help you to hone the skills you want to develop under the guidance of an experienced professional.
Many of my private students are former art school graduates, or find themselves returning to art after raising a family or developing a career. They may have spent a few years taking classes and workshops, but they’re eager to get serious about their craft, but aren’t necessarily looking to make art a career or willing to enter a 4 year program. With private lessons, I’m able to tailor a unique curriculum to you and your goals, while providing the focused environment that you wont find at a community art center or in group classes.
